Colleen E. Whittingham, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Reading and Elementary Education at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Colleen is an experienced teacher, researcher, and author specializing in literacy instruction.

She completed her masters and doctorate degrees at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Literacy, Language, and Culture, is a certified reading specialist, and former elementary school teacher. Colleen’s research explores the factors that mediate teacher/child interactions in early literacy contexts, specifically those fostering equitable opportunities to learn.
