Watch as fourth graders from PS112, Lefferts Park Elementary in Brooklyn, NY discuss their progress on math goals.
The teacher leads a discussion and two students share how they worked to improve in math using appropriate and strategic tools.
In this instance, their awareness of math practice 5 deepens their thinking about when and how to use a protractor to investigate objects and solve problems. The first student shares how she had a hard time at first, but continued to practice. The second student shares the same.
The teacher then reviews that they know their math goals and that they have come a long way to achieve them.
Do you use learning discussions for reflection on goals in your classes? We’d love to hear more about it. Please share.
